Leadership Tip: Offer Constructive Feedback to Team Members
INFLUENCE ACCOUNTABILITY
Offer unprovoked, constructive feedback to team members.
Today’s Tip:
Post team goals and ground rules that outline standards of behavior. For example, you may discuss tolerable, acceptable and intolerable behaviors during conflict, including the use of strong language. Review the list at a team meeting. Once it’s complete, make it visible for all team members to see.
Food for Thought:
When a team clearly articulates the behaviors that are destructive to the team’s performance, individual team members are much more likely to adhere to those norms and to call out unproductive and/or harmful behaviors they see in others.
