Inspiring Your Team To High Performance
Being in the leadership and team development space, I keep a close watch on what models, tools and products people talk and write about. I continue to be amazed by how frequently I read stories that reference concepts related to The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team, the team assessment and development program based on Patrick Lencioni’s best selling book, The Five Dysfunctions of a Team.
Without trust – teamwork is all but impossible
In this recent article for Entrepreneur, Tor Constantino shares some ideas about how to turbocharge team performance. The #1 attribute he mentions? Trust (which happens to be the first of the Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team).
Quoting Patrick Lencioni, Mr. Constantino writes, “Without trust — teamwork is all but impossible. The most important action that a leader must take to encourage the building of trust on a team is to demonstrate vulnerability first.”
The article goes on to highlight the importance of engaging in productive conflict (another of the Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team), along with communicating intentionally, having shared purpose, and inspiring each other. Check it out and get a little inspiration of your own.
