Leaders engage others

Inspire a Shared Vision

Appeal to others to share an exciting dream of the future

Today’s Tip: Listen to Martin Luther King’s “I have a dream” speech (Google it). Note three to five techniques he uses to communicate his vision. Then write a clear, concise statement of your vision of the future and use some of Dr. King’s techniques to effectively communicate your vision to your team.

Food for Thought: Leaders engage others through their energy, optimism, and hope. By demonstrating to others how their values and interests will be served by the long-term vision of the future, leaders develop loyal supporters and committed contributors to their cause.
