Build trust by asking for input

BUILD TRUST: Ask team members for input regarding your area of responsibility

Today’s Tip: Provide a forum for quick and effective exchanges of feedback. This can be part of a regularly scheduled team meeting or incorporated into a team-building off-site. During your next meeting, ask each team member to provide two pieces of feedback to every other team member. Ask:

1. What does the person regularly do that really benefits the team. What should she keep doing

2. What does the person sometimes do that slows down the team. What should she try not to do.

Done respectfully, this exercise can constructively surface issues that might otherwise take months to address.

Food for Thought: Trust requires open and honest feedback, even when things might be hard to say or hear.  Feedback is a gift. Being open to giving it and receiving it can help teams perform at a higher-level.
