Question team members about their current approaches and methods
Today’s Tip: Set the example by being clear about expectations of interpersonal behavior–taking every opportunity to encourage each member of the team to question their peers (to ask for clarification)—without fearing defensiveness or backlash.
Food for Thought: Cohesive teams align themselves around a defined set of rules of engagement regarding holding each other accountable. As they work together to achieve team goals, they realize holding back critical feedback hurts every person on the team. Team members should step into the discomfort of asking someone about what they do even if it’s a bit outside of their expertise. Often times, an outside perspective can yield valuable new insights.
